Daycare description / philosophy
Welcome!
Green Valley Child Care would like to welcome you. My name is Chris Davies and I look forward to working with your family to ensure that your child receives the highest quality of care, teaching and nurturing. I am a licensed early childhood educator and I also have full diplomas in infant/toddler care and special needs care. I have worked with children and families for twenty five years. I have developed this parent handbook specifically to help you to become familiar with the philosophy, policies and procedures of the program. Thank you for choosing Green Valley Child Care I am certain you will feel confident that your child is in a safe, fun, and nurturing environment while they are away from you.
Philosophy
At Green Valley Child Care I believe in the need for a strong, supportive relationship between home and daycare. I feel this relationship helps us to form a true partnership for the benefit of your child. Communication is the key to building this partnership. I communicate with parents in a variety of ways. I encourage a mutual sharing of information through daily conversations, journals of your child's activities, posted notes of classroom activities, parental visits to the classroom and telephone conversations.
As an early childhood development specialist I understand that attachment is a central issue for children birth to three years of age. Parents are the biggest influence in their child's life, and I will respect and support parent's choices wherever possible, to help maintain continuity of care between home and the daycare.
Green Valley Child Care has a child-centered active learning curriculum. This means that the program is created from the needs and interests of the children. This also means that children learn by doing. I strive to provide just the right mix of structure and free playtime that children need, in a loving nurturing environment. When I plan daily activities, singing, dancing, reading, painting, building and pretending are all a part of the daily program. I also encourage the development of life skills as children grow, and I want to foster a sense of community and global awareness for all children.
I feel that we will all benefit in the future if our smallest citizens learn about conservation and how to care for our global home.Daycare Features
